In defence of irregular blogging

The thing about blogging is that its easy. It is so damn easy it starts making you lose respect for it. I am sure you have come across people who ‘lose interest’ in blogging. Maybe you have too. Ever wondered why that happens? Webmasters don’t get bored of websites. And blogs are websites really, aren’t they? Only, they are websites that are very un-website-like.

Pre-made designs mean you don’t have to bother with your blog’s looks in as major a way as a ‘proper’ website does. Blogging platforms come packed to the gills with information architecture tools (archives, categories etc). Everything from editing content to publishing on to the server is automated. All a blogger needs to do is type and hit the enter key.

On reading manuals

I love reading manuals. But before you tag me a freak, allow me to explain. A manual isn’t just a manual. Perhaps, right now, you are flipping through a manual without knowing it.

Manuals like dictionaries and grammar references are lower level manuals. Higher level manuals include relationship guides and stuff on the lines of How to be successful. Higher level manuals define rules as well as enumerating them for easy use and application.

Tree at the end of time

A week or so ago, a thought entered my head. It was about fruits. About their shape actually. Most of them are vague spheroids. Somewhat rough on the outside, even spiky sometimes. The man who first thought of biting into an apple or a pineapple must have been on the brink of desperation. Either that, or they weren’t very discerning back then and ate everything with utter abandon.

But as any detective worth his/her hat and overcoat would tell you, exceptions are the answers to all life’s questions. Think unwieldy fruit. Think exception. Aha!
