On speeding and else

As I was hurrying down the stairs of Andheri station to hop on to my regular slow local, guess what I saw. I saw two people not in a hurry. At first, I thought I had imagined it. But I fought my better instincts (which push me toward the Mumbaiya ‘faster than a speeding bullet’ way) and turned back to pay more attention to the scene that had blurred past me the first time.

It was true. There were two pleasant old ladies. Aunty figures really. They were leisurely making their way through the crowd, chatting away to glory even as the occasional annoyed speedster flashed past them throwing them a ‘kahaan kahaan se chaley aate hain‘ look. I could fight my better instincts for only moments more and then joined the fleeting crowds. Got thinking pleasant thoughts though. Thoughts of slow small town life.

I blew it all when I realised I was on a fast train to Churchgate. Curses!

  1. The Mumbai trains…

The last time I got onto one of those in the rush… I jumped out on the wrong stop…

Honestly, if it wasn’t for the trains I’d move to that town… It’s a swell ole town…

  2. Was going through your pajama after a long gap. Felt like expressing my heartfelt admiration for the way you have organised things. I find it extremely friendly to the reader and to the browser (not the softwre)
It has a good feel to it.
