Stinging truth

“I’ve noticed this thing about people who try and change the world. The world turns around and changes them right back.”Batman in JLA Super Special, Gotham Comics, 2003

One little doubt I have about sting operations or anything else of their nature is the original inspiration. Was Operation Duryodhan the brainchild of people who were approached by those corrupt mortals we always manage to choose as our representatives in the Parliament? Or was it the engineers of sting operations who came up with the idea of paying them to ask questions in the House? Perhaps they thought bringing out the fallibility of human nature every now and then is a healthy thing to do?

(We tend to choose the most fallible amongst us to do the representing business most of the time. But that’s not the point.)

My feeling is that bait never goes unattended. Someone or the other always falls for it. It is in the nature of people to fall. Perhaps we should also think about how right the baiters are.

  1. Personally I’ve never been comfortable with the idea of a sting op, and I hope it’s a passing phase. It’ll be interesting though, if the government tries to do something about it. As much fun as a barrel full of monkeys that would be. Talk like Yoda a little I do.

On another note, I liked the old graphic on top in the old look. Otherwise I really like the new look.
